Of course, the R/L rule works the other way and although a name like えりか (Erika) looks identical to the Western name Erika and かれん (Karen) looks like Karen, both are pronounced differently. This also allows even names that have ridiculously different spellings such as りり (Riri), けいり (Keiri), ありさ (Arisa), えれん (Eren), えみり(Emiri), and かいり (Kairi) to sound similar to English names Lily, Kayle, Alicia, Ellen, Emily, and Kylie-even though the spellings may not suggest there could be any phonetic similarity at all. りな (Rina), りん (Rin), れな (Rena) sound like Lynna, Lyn, and Lena thanks to this quirk, too. Thanks to the Japanese ら, り, る, れ, ろ (Ra, Ri, Ru, Re, Ro) being pronounced somewhat similarly to the English-language “L”-sound, many names work even though they may be written with an “R.” For example, りさ works-despite the fact it is often spelled Risa-as an equivalent of Lisa. Another example of looking different but having similar pronunciation is はな (Hana). Although the stress is different from the English name Naomi, it is close enough that with a slight switch of pronunciation, it works in both languages.įor those in love with Studio Ghibli’s creations, Totoro’s best friend, めい (Mei) could offer a cute name that works in both languages as, although it might not look like an English name, it is pronounced similarly to the Western name May. Luckily the success of Haitian-Japanese tennis player 大坂 なおみ (Osaka, Naomi) has made the name なおみ (Naomi) increasingly popular. あん (An), for example, is not a common name in Japan, but foreign families may bring it back as it sounds exactly like Ann. There are also some less common names that make good equivalents to Western names. A lot of common names for girls work in both English and Japanese, most notably あんな (Anna), えま (Ema), and にな (Nina). Generally speaking, parents of little girls have a lot more options than parents of little boys. Welcome to the wonderful world of Japanese baby names. For many parents, especially those in intercultural relationships, the ideal name will be one that isn’t too tricky for non-Japanese people to pronounce and spell, but at the same time isn’t going to sound totally alien to Asian ears either. While some parents are content to see which name sticks, others spend literal months fretting over the perfect moniker for their newborn. It would also be quite infuriating if you wanted to drive around in the Tough Puppy. This would bog down the engine, and therefore virtually impossible. With a glowing electric blue aura and a massive wing span, Light Jak introduces new move sets, including the ability to glide great distances, emit an energy to block enemy attack, and power up at anytime, all of which provide the player with a sense of being invincible. As Jak has been exposed to Light Eco, players can now experience Jak's magnificent transformation to Light Jak. With a rugged new look and suited with armor, Jak is also equipped with an arsenal of new weapons with upgradeable mods that enable players to increase their firepower and enjoy the freedom to strategize and activate their arsenal at any time. Given the enormity and variance in terrain, vehicles play a large role as off-road transportation is introduced, fueled by a true-to-life physics engine. Once you've destroyed all the lurkers, a door will open leading to another bottomless corridor with more of the spinning, fragmented, circular platforms that appear all over the citadel. From here you can destroy the three generators at the end of the room with ease to shut down the machines spawning lurkers. First you will need to use yellow eco to break through the lurkers in the hallway to reach the red eco. There are two eco vents in this hallway to aid your success one yellow and one red. Play pauses and Daxter's words warn of a huge swarm of approaching citadel bunnies. Having advanced from this area, you come to a thin and long hallway with a large machine at the end. Stepping on a platform causes all platforms of that colour to drop, so it's recommended to long jump to the left as far as possible to avoid de-activating too many platforms and then making your way to safe ground. At the end, you'll encounter a large colored platform bridge (activated by a button) which winds around a corner. The first obstacle you come to is a number of half and quarter-sized modified precursor platforms that lead into a large bottomless corridor. The start of the path to the Red Sage is straight to the right from the entrance of Gol and Maia's citadel, starting with a colored platform bridge three squares wide. One of the four sages was kidnapped by Gol and Maia and brought to their citadel, until Jak freed him from their captivity in this mission.Ĭompletion of this mission in the PlayStation 3, PlayStation Vita, and PlayStation 4 versions of The Precursor Legacy will unlock the bronze trophy Set Me Free!. Most online games just funnel you into Elo hell nowadays. Sadly, server browsing is a thing of the past, having fizzled out after Gen7. No one bothers hosting a good 24/7 2Fort server or anything anymore, because matchmaking just gets you into games quicker. As of this writing, all I even see on CS:GO's server browser is a handful of surf maps, so it seems that the server browser is only really used for niche game modes, and likewise with TF2. Hell, the only Source game people still even play regularly is CS:GO and maybe some TF2, and particularly in CS:GO's case, the game is designed to direct them almost exclusively to ranked matchmaking rather than servers viewable on a server browser. It's a vestigial feature from the days when Steam was just Valve's proprietary launcher for Source games, and is gonna be completely useless for the vast majority of Steam's current userbase. Vancouver games ps3, Alliwantforchristmasisyou youtube, Footprint vector graphic. Should probably mention that the server browser mainly only works for GoldSrc/Source games, which is an infinitesimal fraction of the games on Steam compared to even a decade ago. Oh yeah like others said, a huge feature with steam is BETAs and other version of the SAME game (if developers allow or maybe through dev stuff?). Grouping a series of titles together (storepage), but that part of the UI can become messy, from collections, groups and many different access points to different pages.ĭynamic sorting of titles in your library, proton, group chat, group voice chat, some that doesn't have a lot of usecases until its more integrated (not sure if discord does this with discord games). Manage reviews and sometimes linking third-party or EULAs on the side of the storepage on some titles. Steam broadcast is also not used as much, but its there. Sometimes people forget that there is a guide section and good forums for some games on steam. That steam asks when doing surveys are pretty nice, unlike certain others. A few issues with dealing with the built-in gallery for pictures with recent UI changes, so its a bit harder to access but still sort of cool. From there I can then take it forward with blueprints.Īlthough I had some initial success with physics motors, I quickly found that I couldn’t access many desired parameters in BP to take it further (and no doubt, some of that will be down to my lack of deeper programming ability!).Steam workshop is a huge deal, steam relays are cool and is sort of new, then to remote together is different but still some improvements (hopefully more). Therefore I’m looking to hire a c++ coder to bridge the gap and implement a foundation system for setting pose states and parameters for moving feet - ideally with both kinematic and full physics. I have found blueprints to be currently inadequate for implementing some of the desired features. I’m looking to create a procedural animation system for the Ajoxian Gyro, the enemy machines and local wildlife, such as insects. **C++ Programmer: ideally with experience with physics/animation in UE4. Now however, i’m looking to focus on Infinitesimals. Most recently I did consultancy work for Microsofts “Crackdown 3” for almost 2 years, whilst working on Infinitesimals on the side. Unfortunately the game was canned by the publisher after a year and a half. I founded Dry Ice Studios in Jan 2012, after pitching a game called EON and getting a publisher deal, I hired a team of around 8 people in addition to occasional contractors. I’ve also done a bunch of contract work for a variety of companies in recent years. After 5 years I left and ended up at Realtime Worlds on APB until the company closed in 2010. There I worked on a variety of titles, including Toca Race Driver 3, Operation Flashpoint 2, Brian Lara Cricket among others. My first games job was at Codemasters in 2003. Primarily I’m looking for someone who can do the job right and is easy to work with. I’m self funded, so I don’t have a lot of money - but that doesn’t mean I’m looking for the cheapest labour. I work on the games design, art and sound/music and code via blueprints. I have been working on Infinitesimals in my spare time for almost 2 years, although I have hired a couple of contractors here and there to help out. James McWilliams (Project Creator): Cubit studios is currently just myself alone. They of course cover the costumes, sets, various locations (apparently they came across many war artifacts, such as shells and equipment left behind at Guadalcanal) and share many anecdotes, including an interesting one about the trouble in shipping guns to Australia, where they’re apparently banned. They talk about how the film was shot in many locations, including individual sequences between two actors, where one actor in the scene would be filmed in Guadalcanal and another in the same scene would have been shot in Australia. Characters would change from day to day, with one character becoming the focus one day, while another would get the focus another day. They go into great detail about Malick’s shooting style, which was, despite the script, mostly improvisational. While they do touch on Malick’s visual style, themes present in the film, and possible metaphors, this is basically a technical track, also having the three offering their memories of the shoot. Though I will say I was disappointed at first, I must admit there isn’t a bad feature on here.įirst is an audio commentary by cinematographer John Toll, production designer Jack Fisk, and producer Grant Hill. Just an incredible presentation.Īs expected Criterion has packed in a number of features, though they’re missing that analytical slant Criterion is usually known for and instead concentrate on the general production. In all it’s one of the best tracks I’ve come across on Blu-ray, and not just from Criterion, but from any studio. It’s haunting and perfect to the nature and mood of the film. Dialogue is primarily limited to the front three speakers (center mostly) but Hans Zimmer’s score just beautifully fills the room through all of the speakers. Quieter moments in the film also make great use of your sound system. The sound quality in all is very clean, there are fine details I’ve never noticed before, and the volume levels between channels is perfect. Bass is deep and the sub-woofer gets a large amount of work to do, but doesn’t overdo it. The battle sequences in the film present a lot of activity in all of the channels, with explosions, bullets, yelling, and other forms of chaos moving naturally between them, filling out the environment perfectly and vividly as if you’re right in the middle of the action. Though a reflective and more thoughtful film, in the end, it’s still a war film and it has some good doses of action in it which is where the track truly shines. It’s more than I could have possibly hoped for and it’s perfect for what is an unbelievably beautiful looking film.Ĭriterion of course includes a DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 surround track and this may be simply the best sounding audio track from them. In all it’s a stunner and I must say I’m just beyond impressed with it. The film is fairly new and was a big production so it should be no surprise that the source materials are in marvelous shape, with a few minor blemishes present. I was surprised by the average bitrate but this doesn’t seemed to have hampered it in anyway as the transfer doesn’t present any noticeable artifacts and I didn’t detect any obvious edge-enhancement on screen. Film grain is there, barely registering really, but when it is noticeable it’s natural looking. Blacks are inky and deep without losing any of the details in darker moments, presenting fine shadow delineation, and darker sequences present no noticeable artifacts to speak of. Colours are rendered beautifully, with striking blues and greens, as well as sharply rendered reds when they appear, either in explosions or the various forms of wildlife that appear throughout the film. The crispness of the image is incredible, presenting fine object detail with such shocking clarity. Just the opening shot of the crocodile slipping into the water gives you a clear idea of what you’re in for. Terrence Malick’s The Thin Red Line comes to Blu-ray from The Criterion Collection, who present the film in its original aspect ratio of 2.35:1 in 1080p/24hz on this dual-layer disc.Īs everyone has been already saying the image on here is absolutely breathtaking, certainly one of the best high-def transfers from Criterion so far. Despite the 1-1 score at the time, City fans were salivating: scoring one goal with eleven men against ten must have seemed like child’s play. Everything that preceded Sunday is prelude, and if you just tuned in, all you need to know is this: heading into Sunday’s last game of the season, the title was City’s for the taking.
